These switches work like a static lanyard. If you become separated from your ski in the surf and need to re-start quickly, just flip the lever over, start your ski and go. Once you are out of immediate danger, simply push your standard lanyard in as normal. This action pushes the quick start lever out of the way so you can contuinue using your lanyard/killswitch as normal. Also handy for flushing your ski.
